Day 2125 - Never Release The One You Love

I awoke in my little bedsit at 5am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so after making a cup of tea I decided to take to Twitter to see how the Morrissey concert in Mexico City was going.

The set was fairly similar to the one in Monterrey, with Paris once again "off the list", and There is a Light That Never Goes Out still shining brightly. Judy Is A Punk was added as the encore song.
Morrissey was once again sporting a finger plaster and a rather jazzy blazer. The show opened with Suedehead, and a number of red roses were thrown on stage during the song.... maybe the original Morrissey's World blog of 2011 has suddenly washed-up in Mexico!

Incredibly, there were 21,000 people in attendance, and the concert had sold out in just two days.... and this man can't get a record deal!

In other news, Astra paid a visit to FTM yesterday, leaving the following comment:

For Alf
For all of you, here
And for luck and love

In honor of a beautiful start to what will be a beautiful tour
I want to leave with you in your hands, this

A song to make all hearts melt. And to make the turntables die with smile

Astra inclinant, sed non obligant

There have been no further visits to The Wrong Arms by any of the Morrissey pessoa's, so I have nothing else to add.

  1. It appeared to be an incredible concert! One can really feel the fervor of the fans on the YouTube footage - they absolutely adore Moz and it's a beautiful sight to behold, much like his sparkly blazer. What delights will tonight's concert bring?

  3. the roses are because Rosie is in Mexico for the concerts and to visit relatives at the same time, well if you live in LA you would too

    3. Oh, Clover Dean Rosie! I see. I didn't realise she was in Mehico.

  4. Reports of my death have been greatly over reported.

The ocean still beats into my face but I can tell, through one final spurt of the brain, that Morrissey would feel it necessary to conduct an interview with Rat again. Questions to be left on this vaguely empty comments section. Interview to be conducted on Friday 14th, questions to be posted no later than Thursday 13th.

    Please remember the rules.

  5. So here is a trivial one I will have to get my thinking cap on overnight... Were you mortified the other day when you tried to rip your shirt off and couldn't? And if so, can you laugh about it now?

    It thought it rather sweet...

  6. Do you like all art or is there any you cannot stand (like modern art for example)?

  7. Right then, let's get this underway. Hopefully there won't be too many dullards posting their dreary questions, and I can then be left to conduct a mesmerizing interview that will one day be found by the masses.

Q1 According to reports, you apparently turned down ("after an entertaining month-long email exchange") Damon Albarn's request to record on his latest Gorrilaz album. Was this because you have never forgiven him for beating you to a duet with Françoise Hardy, or was it just not you?

  8. Q2 Are there any artists that you dearly would like to collaborate with?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Q3 The only possible way to make it into the Singles Chart these days is if you are one of the 'Stream age' generation i.e. Sheeran, Clean Bandit, Drake, Rhianna, Bieber etc. Would you collaborate with any of the 'streamers'?

  10. Q4 April 22nd is Record Store Day, and the Smiths are releasing The Boy With The Thorn in His Side. Was this your idea, and why was TBWTTIHS chosen?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Q5 Would it mean anything at all to you if the 7 inch of The Boy With The Thorn were to reach Number 1 in the UK Vinyl Chart?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Q6 When David bowie died, did you feel saddened by the fact that you never got to 'put things right' with him?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Q7 However much you play it down, you must be at least, intrigued to see how the upcoming film, England Is Mine portrays you?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Q8 Are you currently working on a second novel?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Q9 Have you any other ambitions artistically? I get the feeling that you could knock up a great play or two.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ...I think that should have been 'knock out'!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Q10 The record industry seemingly remains fucked, and yet Sparks have managed to sign a new major deal, so why is it that a seminal artist such as you has been unable to find a label?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Q11 I thought that it was a great shame that you fell out with Kristeen Young and Tony Visconti, but it was a very stressful time for you back then. Has there been any contact since?

    ReplyDelete
  19. This next one is my favourite question.
Q12 You turn 58 next month. Can you please share your memories of your 8th birthday (1967), your 18th (1977), your 28th (1987), your 38th (1997) and your 48th (2007)?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Q13 Please will you give us a recent exert from one of your diary entries?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Q14 You recently caused some controversy by producing a t-shirt with James Baldwin's face on it, and your lyrics, 'I wear black on the outside, because black is how I feel on the inside' - it is obvious to me that you were simply paying homage to Baldwin rather than making any other statement whatsoever, so why did you pull it?

  22. Q15 I went to see a Smiths tribute band last weekend, and I was quite surprised that the song that went down the best was Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now. It is a song that you no longer sing, is this because the press have used it's title so negatively over the years?

    ReplyDelete
  23. And finally, Q16, and if I'm honest, I'm not holding my breath for an answer - We all have a celeb or two in our 'wank bank', so who is your Number 1 turn to? Collect £200 if it is Bieber, and go straight to jail without passing Go if it is Elton John.

  24. any chance that you could crack open a bottle of grey goose, wear a pinny and serve the underlings a drink (I will bring the cranberry).. just asking like

    ReplyDelete
  25. also, if you were to suggest wearing nail polish, what brand (not russ) and what colour (apart from gold obviously)

    ReplyDelete
  26. could you also ask dear old Betty not to reroute everything bearing the name Morrissey back to the post office van where it came from, important things went missing.. SIGH!!!!! (by the way I don't expect an answer on this, just needs a mention)

  27. We have been brewing our own beer for years now and hearing the reviews from our local customers I dare to say we are getting quite good at it. So my question is, what if our next beer is one we brew in honour of you, what ingredients should not be missing in the recipe?
